Who is conducting these surveys?

The Student Perceptions of Sexualized Violence Survey is a Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills initiative being conducted by Victoria-based research firm R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd.

Why are you doing these surveys?

The objective of the Survey is to better understand student perceptions of sexualized violence within British Columbia's public post-secondary institutions. Your feedback will be used to help the Ministry identify areas where additional support is needed, and to inform current and future initiatives to ensure that students are safe and supported.

Why should I participate in these surveys? What will the information be used for?

Your participation in the Survey is essential because it gives you a direct voice in guiding current and future sexualized violence prevention and response initiatives. The results will be used by B.C. public post-secondary institutions to inform policies and programs that create a safer and healthier learning environment for students. The feedback you provide helps us understand students' perspective, informs current Ministry initiatives, and guides the development of new initiatives to make them more effective and accessible.

How will my information be kept private?

The Survey is voluntary and strictly anonymous. All information collected will be maintained in strict accordance with applicable provincial privacy legislation. Data gathered is processed, stored, and used in a form that does not permit any individual to be identified. Survey results will be reported in aggregate, so that no individual will be identifiable. How to participate

Current public post-secondary students (except for students who have completed (or attempted) fewer than three credits or 42 hours to date, and students enrolled in a contract training program through their employer) will receive an email from their institution inviting them to participate in the Survey.

If you have received an email about the Survey from your post-secondary institution, your participation will help the Ministry with current and future sexualized violence initiatives to ensure that students are safe and supported. Please respond using the online survey via the link provided in your e-mail. Your responses will be handled confidentially and securely.
